The Hai Phong Journalists Association, in collaboration with the Hai Phong Tourism Association, organized the Journalism and Photography Contest titled "Hai Phong Tourism – Accelerating Recovery and Boosting Development" on May 26, 2023. The contest received widespread participation from journalists and photo artists in Hai Phong and nationwide.
During the award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tu, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong Journalists Association, shared that the organizing committee received over 500 entries across various categories, including print media, online media, radio and television features, and artistic photography. Notably, the number of artistic photography entries exceeded expectations, with over 400 submissions.
The entries highlighted innovative and exemplary practices aligned with the directives of the Central Government and Hai Phong City. These include Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo on the development of Hai Phong City by 2030 with a vision toward 2045, and Resolution No. 04-NQ/TU of the City Party Committee on accelerating the development of Hai Phong's tourism sector from 2012 to 2020 with an orientation toward 2030. These resolutions aim to establish Hai Phong as a leading, professional, and sustainable tourism economy, with modern infrastructure and high-quality, diverse, eco-friendly tourism products that showcase the city’s identity and competitive advantages.
Additionally, the entries addressed critical challenges and bottlenecks in the city’s socio-economic and tourism-related activities, such as infrastructure development, urban beautification, environmental protection, and administrative reforms.
Through journalistic works and artistic photography, the participants proposed solutions and strategies to help the city refine policies, create long-term development plans, and effectively promote Hai Phong’s potential and strengths. This effort contributes to the sustainable growth of Hai Phong’s tourism sector while regaining its development momentum.
During the event, the Hai Phong Tourism Association and Hai Phong Journalists Association presented awards to outstanding contest participants. In the journalism category, two first prizes, two second prizes, three third prizes, and five consolation prizes were awarded. In the photography category, one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, ten consolation prizes, and two special recognition awards were presented.
Prior to the award ceremony, the Hai Phong Tourism Association, together with tourism associations from Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Hai Duong, and Thai Binh provinces, summarized their 2023 activities. The meeting highlighted significant achievements in tourism promotion and the collaboration among associations to attract visitors. Local tourism products were introduced and promoted domestically and internationally through tour programs in ASEAN countries, China, and Europe.

Looking ahead to 2024, Mr. Mai Xuan Thang, Chairman of the Hai Phong Tourism Association, stated, "We, the tourism associations, will continue to build on the activities of 2023, enhancing their quality and introducing new forms of exchange between associations in the region.
