After the effects of Typhoon No. 3, Hai Phong’s tourism industry has gradually recovered. According to statistics from the Department of Tourism, in October 2024 alone, Hai Phong’s tourism sector received and served nearly 667,000 visitors, a 10.06% increase compared to the same period last year. This included over 80,000 international tourists, up 2.95%. Tourism revenue for October is estimated at VND 800 billion.
For the first 10 months of 2024, Hai Phong's tourism industry welcomed over 7.8 million visitors, an increase of 14.1% year-on-year, achieving 86.21% of the annual target. Of this number, approximately 832,000 were international tourists, a 0.89% increase compared to the same period last year. The total tourism revenue for the period is estimated at over VND 9.4 trillion.
Efforts to promote and develop tourism have been a priority. Hai Phong has created promotional materials under the theme "Agricultural and Rural Tourism in Hai Phong" and is preparing to install promotional billboards for Hai Phong tourism and the Cat Ba Archipelago UNESCO World Heritage Site at Cat Bi International Airport. The Hai Phong Department of Tourism has participated in the China-ASEAN Expo and organized a delegation to promote Hai Phong tourism in Guangxi Province, China. Additionally, the department collaborated with the People’s Committee of Ngo Quyen District to inaugurate a "Cultural and Culinary Street" on Phung Chi Kien Street.
Hai Phong is actively reviewing and surveying attractions, experiences, dining, and accommodations for inclusion in the 2024 School Tourism Program. It is also examining plans to develop and pilot a train-based tourism product called "Heritage Connection Journey – The Train to Hai Phong Port."
