On the afternoon of July 18, the Hai Phong Tourism Association held a meeting to review its activities in the first half of 2024 and outline tasks for the second half of the year. The meeting aimed to summarize the achievements and set out plans for the remaining activities of the year, especially in the context of the entire tourism industry striving for comprehensive, rapid, and sustainable development, as per Directive No. 08/CT-TTg from the Prime Minister.
In the first half of 2024, the Association's work was carried out relatively synchronously, effectively, and with focus. Notable examples include mobilizing businesses to participate in the 2024 Hanoi International Tourism Fair (VITM); collaborating with the Tourism Associations of six northern coastal provinces (Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, Ninh Binh) to host a conference establishing the linkage of the Red River Delta Tourism Associations in Hai Phong to promote regional tourism marketing and cooperation; developing a plan to pilot a tourism product using trains to visit Hai Phong Port, to be presented to the Department of Tourism, aimed at diversifying and enhancing the quality of Hai Phong's tourism offerings.
In the second half of 2024, the Hai Phong Tourism Association will continue to implement the plans outlined in the 2024 action program, in line with the government's Directive No. 08/CT-TTg on comprehensive, rapid, and sustainable tourism development. Specific tasks include:
Expanding membership development through connections with industries and sectors serving tourism.
Establishing sub-associations for Agricultural - Rural Tourism, Sustainable Tourism Development Club, Restaurant - Bar Sub-association, Tourist Transport Sub-association, and Specialty Tourism Products (Hai Phong).
Continuing the implementation of commendation and reward activities across the Association's units; carrying out several charitable social activities to contribute to the city's social welfare in 2024.
Studying the organization of the Hai Phong Street Food Festival and creating regulations for awarding the Hai Phong Tourism Prize 2024.
Promoting the digital transformation of the Association’s activities and supporting members in accelerating their businesses' digital transformation to contribute to the implementation of the government's National Digital Transformation Program.
To address challenges faced by businesses and boost tourism in Hai Phong, the Association has provided recommendations to the Department of Transport to alleviate congestion at Dong Bai ferry terminal during peak tourist periods to Cat Ba Island; and proposed a solution to connect routes between Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh) and Lan Ha Bay (Hai Phong) to enable local cruise companies to leverage the UNESCO World Heritage status of Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba Archipelago for promoting cruise tourism products.
In the final months of 2024, the Hai Phong Tourism Association will continue expanding membership, establish an Agricultural - Rural Tourism sub-association to boost rural tourism, develop a Sustainable Tourism Club, and support members in researching and developing green tourism products and services. Additionally, the Association will continue its digital transformation initiatives and explore organizing the Hai Phong Street Food Festival.
